The Alps Candy Store Fire
Early Friday morning on March 6th, 2009 a local landmark caught fire and burned to the point that the building is not salvageable. The Alps candy store is located in Tumwater Canyon, just west of the town of Leavenworth. It was a popular stop on Highway 2 for both locals, as well as travelers heading to or from the Seattle area via Stevens Pass. This was a local landmark that will be missed by many.
