The Apple Capital Loop Trail is a huge asset that the people of Wenatchee and East Wenatchee make use of all year long. This ten plus mile long paved trail skirts the Columbia River shore on both city’s side. It crosses on the Odabashian Bridge in the north and the old pedestrian bridge in the south.

The Chelan County Fire Department tackles all kinds of fires and one of the special tools they have at their disposal is this helicopter. Here it is pictured at the Sunnyslope fire station on the north side of Wenatchee.

Wenatchee is the largest city in North Central Washington and it and the surrounding area are known as the Apple Capital of the World. Here is a look at the Federal Building there which houses among other things, the United States Post Office.

Here’s a unique looking little fire station that those who travel up to Mission Ridge will be familiar with. It sits on the outskirts of the southern part of Wenatchee and is big enough to hold about two vehicles.

The Wenatchee Panthers defeated the Eastmont Wildcats in the 2011 Battle of the Bridge by the score of 40-19.  The Panthers fell behind early, but were able to rebound and put together a very good second half against a tough Wildcats team.  It was a great game and a fun atmosphere o friendly rivalry between the two neighboring cities.

The long awaited Harry Potter movie came out recently and it was a big deal in North Central Washington too, just like everywhere else.  Here you can see people starting to lineup on Friday around noon at the new Gateway Cinema in Wenatchee  even though the movie wouldn’t open until midnight later that night.  By the time evening rolled around the line stretched all the way down to the Food Pavilion grocery store.

This was the last film in the Harry Potter series and there had been a lot of anticipation surrounding it.  The movie seems to be getting great reviews and there are lots of places to go to see it around the region.

Wenatchee’s Walmart has been undergoing some serious remodeling for quite sometime.  In recent weeks, customers have been “herded” over to use the new entrance.  These two photos show both that new entrance as well as the construction going on at the old entrance.  Many shoppers have expressed frustration with the inconvenience that this construction has caused, but hopefully it will all end soon.
