During the summer, especially early on, it isn’t uncommon to see kayakers out braving the waters of the Wenatchee River in the Tumwater Canyon area. Check out these kayakers braving the rapids!

Video: Wenatchee’s Newest Street – Riverside Drive

A nice addition to the riverfront area in Wenatchee in the last year is Riverside Drive which runs parallel to the Columbia River and right by Riverfront Park.

Video: Scenes From Old Blewett Highway

From a recent trip across Old Blewett Highway. This is a great little diversion to take if you have the time while crossing Blewett Pass. It goes over the mountains at a higher altitude and offers some amazing views of the surrounding forest. The entire trip is about 11 miles or so, but the going is a lot slower than down on the new highway.

Here is an interesting video showing a kayaker spill out of their kayak and take on the Black Canyon stretch of rapids on the Methow River without a boat. Looks pretty cold and rough!

Video: Icicle Junction in Leavenworth, Washington

Leavenworth, Washington is a great place to stop and go shopping. There are all sorts of great things available in the shops there including Christmas ornaments, ornamental iron, candy, pastries, candles, toys, hats, clothing, collectibles, and more. It is often described as North Central Washington’s shopper’s paradise. For kids though, shopping can get boring. On the west end of Leavenworth, right off Highway 2 is a place called Icicle Junction where kids and adults can have a great time. There is a movie theater, miniature golf course, arcade, and snack bar there, and a fun time can be had by anyone of any age.

Video: Smallwood’s Harvest

Located just off Highway 2 in Peshastin is Smallwood’s Harvest. This unique attraction features open spaces for the kids to play on, a corn or prop maze, a garden nursery, fresh produce in season, a wide variety of jarred goods, interesting candies, and a very popular petting zoo.

Check Out Winthrop, WA On Video

Winthrop is a great little community to to escape to for a quick day trip, a full weekend, long weekend, or even something longer. There is quite a bit to do in and around this little western themed town. Booking a stay in one of the motels or rental cabins that is right on the river can be very fun.

Winthrop features great restaurants, places to stay, and lots of outdoor recreation. There are also local celebrations that are a lot of fun too.

Video: Snoqualmie Falls

It isn’t located in North Central Washington, but it is still one of the more beautiful sights in the state. After a recent trip across the mountains, I thought I’d post a look at Snoqualmie Falls in the springtime.

The Salish Lodge overlooks the falls and there is a large outdoor park downstream for viewing the spectacle. There is also a gift shop / snack bar too, so souvenirs, snacks, and beverages aren’t a problem either.

For those that like small towns, just a couple miles south of the falls is the old downtown area of the town of Snoqualmie Falls. There are a number of great little small town businesses there, and also a whole lot of things to see for anyone interested in railroads or railroad history.

Video: A Drive Across Blewett Pass

We took a trip to the west side of the state recently, and on the way back we recorded going up and over Blewett Pass. It was a great day, and a very nice drive.

Blewett Pass runs north/south and connects the Ellensburg/Cle Elum area to the Leavenworth/Wenatchee area. Highway 97 runs through the mountains there, and the roadway is followed by Swauk Creek on the south side and Peshastin Creek on the north side.

Hopefully this year we will be making more videos of North Central Washington to go with the photos we’ve been taking. Road tripping around our area is a great way to spend a day or weekend.

Get out on the road and explore North Central Washington this year!

Chelan Skydiving Video… Amazing!

Here is a look at an amazing video taken from Chelan… way above Chelan. Two people start out on an ultralight trip high above the Chelan area. One then jumps out and skydives down while filming the whole thing. Some amazing sights can be seen from that high.
