Well, he’s made the trip out west and is currently staying in one of North Central Washington’s true treasures, the community of Leavenworth.

He has even asked that those from there or nearby contribute a thought or two as to what is “the ONE thing” about Leavenworth that makes it special.

There are all sorts of great things available in the shops there including Christmas ornaments, ornamental iron, candy, pastries, candles, toys, hats, clothing, collectibles, and more. It is often described as North Central Washington’s shopper’s paradise. For kids though, shopping can get boring. On the west end of Leavenworth, right off Highway 2 is a place called Icicle Junction where kids and adults can have a great time. There is a movie theater, miniature golf course, arcade, and snack bar there, and a fun time can be had by anyone of any age.

The Icicle Canyon is one of the more popular and scenic areas in North Central Washington. It is located immediately southwest of the Bavarian community of Leavenworth and is home to a number of outdoor recreation opportunities including camping, hiking, rock climbing, fishing, backpacking, mountaineering, and more. There are nice meandering trails on level ground and steep trails that head up the surrounding ridges. It is truly something to experience.

This was a special spot to many people from the area as well as those that only frequented it when traveling towards Stevens Pass or the Lake Wenatchee area. It will be missed by many.
