A fire broke out yesterday just off Horse Lake Road in Wenatchee and was the focal point of many residents who came to watch. The fire was successfully put out without the loss of any homes that were in the area. A big thank you to the local firefighters.

Buddy Bhandar, vacationing from Canada, made headlines when he saved a local woman who had a heart attack while tubing in the Wenatchee River near Leavenworth. For those that have never gone camping at Lake Wenatchee State Park on the shores of Lake Wenatchee, it is a beautiful area that shouldn’t be missed. One of the highlights is a presentation by the US Forest Service that is meant to teach children about the dangers of fire. An informative program is put on by the Forest Service that includes interactive question and answer sessions, information from actual wilderness firefighters, and the highlight with most kids… a visit from none other than Smokey the Bear!
The program is given on Saturdays, not every Saturday though so you’ll want to check with the State Park and find out their schedule if you want to have your kids see the program. It is presented at the outdoor amphitheater there at the park and runs about a half hour or so.
