Badger Mountain is located on the east side of the Columbia River and is actually home to what locals know as the back way from East Wenatchee to Waterville. This unusual structure sits near the top and gets some curious looks from those who take this out of the way route.

NCW Photo of the Week: Downtown Cashmere, Washington

Located just west of Wenatchee and just east of Leavenworth and the turn off for Blewett Pass, Cashmere sits right on US Highway 2 and can be a fun stop for anyone driving through the area. There is a great little museum there, one of the best antique malls in the state, and a famous local candy factory too.

NCW Photo of the Week: Miss Veedol Replica in East Wenatchee, Washington

The field above East Wenatchee was the site of a historic event a long time ago. The first transatlantic flight left from Japan and landed in East Wenatchee long ago. The plane’s name was the Miss Veedol and this small monument near the entrance to the city pays tribute to this significant accomplishment.

NCW Photo of the Week: The Bridge Over the Mouth of the Entiat River

Highway 97A connects Wenatchee and Chelan on the west side of the Columbia River. About halfway up it is the town of Entiat and the point where the Entiat River flows into the Columbia. Spanning that river is this bridge here. In the summer, it is not uncommon to see boats hanging out near it and people walking about in the shallow water.

The Wild Horse Monument sits high on a hillside over looking the Columbia River and the Vantage Bridge. Visitors can stop and enjoy the scenic views from the parking lot or climb up the trail and see the sculptures up close.

Palisades is located in Moses Coulee and is a very interesting part of North Central Washington. It is surrounded by the coulee walls on all sides which provides for some very cool looking scenery. This is a great little road trip for anyone finding themselves in the Quincy, Crescent Bar, or Wenatchee area.

NCW Photo of the Week: The Okanogan Bingo Casino

Located in Okanogan in North Central Washington, the Okanogan Bingo Casino is a top draw in the area. This is a fun area with a very unique terrain around it too. The Okanogan River flows right through town and one of the main highways, US97, heads north from there to Canada and south to the city of Wenatchee and eventually Blewett Pass.

The Chelan Dam is unique in that sometimes water flows through it and sometimes it doesn’t. This is not so much the case anymore, but it was once the norm to see the short Chelan River channel that speeds down the hillside to the Columbia River bone dry. Here is a look at the Chelan Dam with no water flowing through it.

Wilson Creek is a very photo friendly little community located in the eastern reaches of North Central Washington. It is a great stop for those making a road trip through the region. NCW Photo of the Week: Bridgeport, Washington

Here is a look at the Bridgeport Plaza in Bridgeport, Washington. Bridgeport is located just downriver of the famous Chief Joseph Dam. It is in a very interesting portion of North Central Washington, within a few minutes of the forests of the Cascades and also the near desert like features east of there. It can be a great stop on a drive east towards Grand Coulee Dam, north to Omak or Okanogan, or west to Winthrop and the North Cascades Highway.
