Picnicking is allowed there, but the primary attraction are the trails that lead up to the top of the interesting rock formations that are found there. Here is a nice looking video taken by some hikers on a gorgeous Wenatchee Valley day.

Lake Wenatchee is that as there are fun recreational opportunities in the area as well as plenty of access to the waters of the cold refreshing glacier fed lake.

Lake Wenatchee is also beautiful and fun in the winter. The campsites are closed during this time of year, but the beach and trails are open. Cross country skiing is popular and the trails are well groomed for this activity.

Oh, and did we mention that the lake itself, as well as the surrounding area, is beautiful in the winter?

Old Plain Bridge

This bridge sits in Plain, Washington and crosses the upper Wenatchee River just a few miles from where it leaves Lake Wenatchee. It is closed to traffic (obviously) and is now only used by walkers, mountain bikers, and snowmobilers.

The O’Sullivan Dam is one of the longest earth-fill dams in the entire United States and is responsible for keeping the water that forms the Potholes Reservoir within its boundaries before releasing it into the irrigation system for the lower Columbia Basin to make use of.
