Wenatchee is the largest city in North Central Washington and it and the surrounding area are known as the Apple Capital of the World. Here is a look at the Federal Building there which houses among other things, the United States Post Office.

The Chumstick Highway is also known as the back way to Lake Wenatchee. It connects Leavenworth to the lake by way of the small community of Plain. Near Plain, this small fire station sits on the side of the road ready and waiting to protect the surrounding land.

Crescent Bar is a great vacation spot that features camping, golfing, tennis, swimming, and more. Getting out on the water of the Columbia River is a fun way to get some outdoor recreation in as well. One of the impressive things to see is the large cliff wall that serves as a backdrop to the community.

The Chelan River has an entire run of about two miles. It flows out of the eastern end of Lake Chelan, through part of the town of Chelan, through the Chelan Dam, and when the gates of that dam are open it flows down the steep hillside to the Columbia River below.

Badger Mountain is located on the east side of the Columbia River and is actually home to what locals know as the back way from East Wenatchee to Waterville. This unusual structure sits near the top and gets some curious looks from those who take this out of the way route.

Located just west of Wenatchee and just east of Leavenworth and the turn off for Blewett Pass, Cashmere sits right on US Highway 2 and can be a fun stop for anyone driving through the area. There is a great little museum there, one of the best antique malls in the state, and a famous local candy factory too.

The field above East Wenatchee was the site of a historic event a long time ago. The first transatlantic flight left from Japan and landed in East Wenatchee long ago. The plane’s name was the Miss Veedol and this small monument near the entrance to the city pays tribute to this significant accomplishment.

Highway 97A connects Wenatchee and Chelan on the west side of the Columbia River. About halfway up it is the town of Entiat and the point where the Entiat River flows into the Columbia. Spanning that river is this bridge here. In the summer, it is not uncommon to see boats hanging out near it and people walking about in the shallow water.

The Wild Horse Monument sits high on a hillside over looking the Columbia River and the Vantage Bridge. Visitors can stop and enjoy the scenic views from the parking lot or climb up the trail and see the sculptures up close.

Palisades is located in Moses Coulee and is a very interesting part of North Central Washington. It is surrounded by the coulee walls on all sides which provides for some very cool looking scenery. This is a great little road trip for anyone finding themselves in the Quincy, Crescent Bar, or Wenatchee area.
