Pit Lake is a small community lake located in Rock Island, Washington, about seven miles southeast from Wenatchee. Rock Island is a small town with a very relaxed way of life. There are a few stores, some agricultural land, a local golf course, Highway 28, and the Columbia River there. It’s also home to a small body of water known as Pit Lake.
Pit Lake is just under three acres in size and is stocked with Rainbow Trout every spring. The lake is open only to juvenile anglers, anyone under 15 years old can try their luck, and it’s open year round. Also available in the lake are Largemouth Bass, Pumpkinseed, and Bluegill.
For youngsters wanting to get some fishing in and parents who don’t want a long drive up into the mountains or out into the Columbia Basin, Pit Lake may be just what the doctor ordered for a short little day trip or when you only have a few hours to spare.
Pit Lake is also home to the Rock Island Kids Fishing Day put on once a year by the Wenatchee Sportsmen’s Association.
