The Okanogan River flows from north to south in the upper reaches of North Central Washington, eventually emptying into the Columbia River. The community of Hartline sits just east of Coulee City and is largely agricultural based. It is close to Banks Lake and not far from Grand Coulee Dam either. One of the lesser seen dams in North Central Washington is the Chelan Dam that crosses the Chelan River shortly after it leaves Lake Chelan. The spillways to this dam are rarely opened as most of the water is pumped underground to the powerhouse down below. Twitter This!

Banks Lake is formed with water that is pumped up the hillside from Grand Coulee Dam to fill the northern part of the Grand Coulee.
