The American Cancer Society’s Chelan and Douglas County Relay For Life is coming up on Friday, May 16th at 6 pm. Here is a story linking Stemilt Growers to poor migrant worker living condition in California. The United Farm Workers union representative states that Stemilt invited the workers to come down to Washington and that the land itself is owned by a partner in the company. Stemilt denies any involvement.

The State of Washington has opened up Chinook Salmon fishing on the Icicle River near Leavenworth. The season will last from May 15th through July 31, 2008 and the legal area to fish in is from 800 feet above the mouth of the river to 500 feet below the fish hatchery. More information […]
