The Washington State Department of Ecology plans to do soil replacement at four more Wenatchee area schools this year, replacing soil tainted with arsenic and lead that got there during its years as orchard land. Before the 1940s, arsenic and other chemicals were used regularly on orchard land. The four schools to be done this year in the Wenatchee area are: Peshastin-Dryden Elementary, Lee Elementary, Sunnyslope Elementary, and Orchard Elementary.
