Imagining the amount of earth and rock it would take to stop the flow of the Columbia River (even temporarily) is staggering. The shock to the residents along the Columbia River to the south who had the experience of seeing a dry river bed that morning must have been unbelievable.
Earthquake Point, another piece of local history you can enjoy by just slowing down and pulling off the road for a few minutes.
