The Wall Street Journal gives it’s analysis of the Omak Suicide Race. The race is very controversial, involving the battle of ancient Indian traditions versus modern day animal rights activists.

Bridgeport sits just a mile or so downriver from the Chief Joseph Dam. Bridgeport State Park is also nearby, as well as the towns of Brewster and Pateros.

World War II Hero Pappy Boyington Has Ties To Okanogan

Coeur d’Alene has recently renamed it’s airport ‘Pappy Boyington Field’ in honor of the World War II hero who spent part of his early years in Northern Idaho.

Later, after his war years he briefly lived in North Central Washington’s own Okanogan.
