5 interesting facts about the Peshastin-Dryden area of North Central Washington:

#1 - Despite most state parks having been in the park system for many years, Peshastin Pinnacles State Park did not become a state park until 1991.

#2 - Peshastin/Dryden Elementary School is the only school, out of five, in the Cascade School District that is not located in Leavenworth (it’s in Peshastin).

#3 - The Highline Canal, an irrigation canal that was started in 1901, is 14 miles in length and draws water from the Wenatchee River, it runs from Dryden all the way to Wenatchee.

#4 - The highest temperature recorded in Peshastin, as of 2006, was 108 degrees F in 1967, while the lowest temperature recorded was -36 degrees F in 1968.

#5 - The land where Peshastin presently sits was originally owned by the Northern Pacific Railway.
